Best Competition Subwoofer Reviews 2021

That’s what this review is for. We’ve done the groundwork for you and have covered six best competition subwoofers that are popular online today. We have even listed out what’s essential about them, their cons, pros and what’s best for your needs and money.

1) E-10 V.3 D4 – Sundown Audio 10″ 500W RMS Dual 4-Ohm EV.3 Series Subwoofers from Sundown Audio

The company says that this is the third of their acclaimed E series, released back in 2016. Originally launched in 2012, they have worked on improving this E-Series, making it one of the best entry-level woofers. Most entry-level woofers are limited when it comes to features like linear excursion, mechanical ruggedness, and thermal performance. With this sub-woofer it’s a whole new ball game, and the company is working on their third generation E series.

In this best competition sub-woofer, you have an all new stamped steel frame that is much stronger than the than previous generation E series woofers. It even has a, enhanced Sundown style” high pressure vented spider landing as well.

With that, it has been boosted with the motor ventilation system, the same thing that you’ll find in the SA series. The other big improvement is the larger voice coil and thermal capacity.

Sundown Audio has made all of this possible at an affordable price. This is the choice for you, if you’re looking for a great subwoofer option without spending too much. In fact, they’re so easy to install and use, they are suited for beginners to seasoned professionals.

  • Black Aluminum 2.5” voice coil former for superior heat dissipation

  • high operating temperatures,
  • high impedance

Value for money:

These sub-woofers are ideal for anyone and guarantees leading performance at a value price point. Everyone who has used them described how great they sound and can hit high bass and bottom notes. They also describe that they’re louder than expected, even if they are an intro sub line.

We recommend this sub-woofer to all who want better quality and sounding audio equipment. Spend time comparing specs, prices etc., but really at the end of the day they are built extremely well and are awesome.

Overall, you have decent empower handling, durable build, 1000 watts peak power too. The only cons we can think of are the high impedance that it is got. As you know, this makes it impossible to find an amp to match that. Then, it is susceptible to heating issues, so its essential to match the sub-woofer properly.

The brand has outdone themselves with this series and we too are blown away by the quality of these subs. In fact, they sound awesome as right out of the box after being installed, with fine tuning hey sound even better.

  • High Flux Ferrite Magnet,
  • Competition Grade Paper Con,
  • Stitched High Roll Foam Surround,
  • Tinsel Leads Woven into Spider

  • fixed specification limits,
  • bass remote not included

Value for money:

This sub hits those bass notes really well and produces great sound for the money. We can put it up there with Sundown Audio. Interestingly, both these and the Sundown Audio sub woofers have the same specs – and if you don’t get, you can choose the other.

The sound output is very strong through, and if fitted with an f150 or the Colossus amps, you could end up shaking neighboring cars as you drive by them!! They’re that good.

With the speakers, you have certain specifications that won’t suit all sound systems to cars – so be careful about that. One is the active cross over of 12dB/octave with a variable of 50-200Hz. Then, the subsonic filter is of 24dB/octave high-pass and is fixed at 25Hz. The Kicker EQ Boost can vary up to +12dB, but centers at 40Hz. It is compatible with CXRC bass remote but is not included in it.

3) The Power Acoustik MOFO 10-Inch Competition Subwoofer Dual 2-Ohm Voice Coils

This is yet another choice for inexpensive subwoofers. Power Acoustik is a top-rated competition subwoofer, performs well and is sold for a price that anyone can agree on. Weighing about 32 pounds and possessing a dimension of 9 inches by 9 inches in height by 9 inches width and 15 inches depth.

It runs on 3,000 watts power output, 1,700 watts RMS and 8-gauge compression wire terminals that enclose the wires so that it stays in place no matter what.

Durability is a guarantee, with the aluminum reinforcement fins with dust cap so dust cannot settle in. The subwoofer is designed with double-stacked magnets with 340 ounces of strontium ferrite. Finally, you have internal dual Conex spiders, 2.5 inches of 4-layer coils on aluminum.

  • 10-Inch competition woofer with patent Pending heatsink,
  • Cloth paper composite,
  • 4-Spline heatsink, Dual Conex spiders,
  • UV Coated foam surround.

  • custom-built encasing is an additional purchase,
  • limited warranty,
  • can only be wired to 1 ohm and 4 ohm setting

Value for money:

After wiring it up, the sub is able to move down to various decibels right down to 0.7 ohms. But make sure you match the correct Power Acoustik amp as they have been designed to go with this sub. A 3,000-Watt Class D Monoblock Amplifier is recommended as they work perfectly. The other thing the company has suggested is to insulate the box with compressed foam insulation for better sound.

For the price it’s one of the hardest hitting subs and what’s also good is that its dust-proof, will last long, performs really well. Then, the compression terminals keep all the wires in place. Sound-wise, it gets really loud and this works perfectly given the price that you’re paying.

4) SKv2-3500.1D Monoblock Class D MOSFET Competition Grade Subwoofer Amplifier, 4700W Max Power from Skar Audio

Skar Audio presents the SKv2-3500, which is a competition grade monoblock class D subwoofer amplifier. Made to deliver unequivocal performance and power output. This sub is part of a flagship SKv2 series of amplifier collection and this particular model utilizes quality internal components and has some pretty advanced engineering enhancements.

As a result, you get a sub that can outperforms most other subs in the same range. This sub is your solution for all your competing SBl lane needs and for powering your “daily driver” audio system. Rated at 3, 500 watts RMS power, the sub is capable of producing a maximum of 4,700 watts.

Design wise, you have an advanced heatsink feature for cooling and 4-way protection circuitry that permits efficient operation at peak output for several hours. And you can control the performance too, with built-in user control panel, variable adjustment tunings for gain level, subsonic filter, bass boost, low-pass filter, and phase control. You can even run the SKv2-3500. 1D strapped if desired.

With these features, the sub has RCA inputs and outputs for easier daisy chain multiple amplifiers. The sub uses 1/0-gauge power and ground input terminals that bring about maximum current flow and higher power output. The amplifiers designed for use with this sub made by the same company have remote subwoofer level control for full control over the bass, even from the front of the vehicle.

Created for use in events where competition grade power and reliability are required, made possible by the 1-ohm stability and high-speed Mosfet power supplies.

  • Competition Grade SPL Class D Monoblock MOSFET Car Power Amplifier,
  • Peak Power at 1 Ohm: 4,
  • 700 Watts, RMS Power at 1 Ohm: 3,
  • 500 Watts,
  • Stable at 1 Ohm, Frequency Response: 15Hz – 270Hz,
  • 4-Way Protection Circuitry and 1/0 Gauge Power, Ground Input Terminals for Maximum Current Flow,
  • User Adjustable Low Pass Filter,
  • Remote Subwoofer Level Control,
  • Heavy Duty Advanced Heatsink Design,
  • Maximum Cooling And Efficiency,
  • On-board Bass Boost Control (0-9dB)

  • need to get specific amp,
  • tough installation,
  • weak sound output

Value for money:

You can use this sub for long term, as it has this advanced heat sink design for maximum heat dissipation and the 4-way protection circuitry. This gives you optimal sound for a long time and add more durability to the speaker. One con is that if you hook it up to any speaker, you may not get the sound level you’re looking for. Strangely, this gets fixed when you use amps from the same company.

Then, it draws a little over 100 amps at clipping at 12.5 volts, putting out somewhere around 1300 watts! The amp sounds great, puts out decent power when running a Skar zvx 15 and similar.

Next, fitting the sub taking in the angle, wiring, output into consideration is tough. Wiring up the bass knobs, the sub-base can create some gaps that affect the sound of the sub. This is disappointing, and for the cost these problems should not be happening – and Skar does produce some decent subs, amps etc.

That aside, what is good about the speaker is the quality looks and feels way better and is pretty heavy. Skar audio is very conservative with their ratings, as even the subs that are supposed to be 2000 RM can push out almost 2,268 RMS at 1 OHM. You can dyno test the subs, Shar does do their own dyno that you can see online.

Looking at the price, one would think that it may not deliver quality sound, but this can push2- 12” alpine type r’s and with the voltage at 12 when the car isn’t running and at 14v, its even better.

The install kit is missing some essential items, but nothing that you can’t replace easily. One thing to note is that you need a plastic screwdriver, so that you don’t chance messing anything up by grounding out the amp when adjusting the knobs. Like we pointed out earlier, the installation is tricky. They recommend a 160 amp that’s hard to find, but you can easily run it on a 150 amp fuse and it should work fine.

The bass knob won’t make much of a difference, so you do have to rely on the factory head unit in the car. But, with these few hiccups, this Skar sub isa great amp at a great price. The sub is also a great choice if you need something smaller, or to drive to the max and beyond and still use it the next day.

Excellent performance with no overheating whatsoever – but you do have to spend time on installing it and connecting it with professional grade equipment for best results.

Best Competition sub woofers can be used by everyone, based on need, power output and driving experience. But, finding the right on depends on price, budget, and configurations. Larger models have more power, smaller models can fit in any car! Reviewed here are some subs keeping all this mind.
